The MELT Method®

The MELT (Myofascial Energy Length Technique) Method® is a self treatment technique that helps prevent pain, heals injury and erases the negative effects of aging and active living. MELT is a breakthrough technique that keeps your connective tissue and nervous system in top condition. MELT uses a series of easy, precise movements using small balls on the hands and feet. This program quickly rehydrates connective tissue allowing the body to release tension and stress. 30 Min MELT is structured as a precursor to the mat class. Come for MELT, stay for MAT. 60 Min MELT is designed to allow you to dive deeper into the work and encompass more of your body. You won’t believe how you can alleviate aches and pain.  Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat. Classes are 30 minutes and 60 minutes.

The GYROKINESIS® Method

GYROKINESIS® is part of the GYROTONIC® Expansion System. It is an exercise approach that uses the principles of fluidity and breath. Typical class format begins with participants seated on a stool. The second half is generally done on the floor. The seven natural elements of spinal movement, forward, backward, left side, right side, left twist, right twist as well as circular, are incorporated in the class. Classes embody a dance-like flow and has been influenced by dance, yoga, tai-chi, gymnastics and swimming. GYROKINESIS® promotes the health and vitality of the spine. All levels are welcome.

Core Concepts

A pre-pilates program designed to provide a deep understanding of the basic fundamentals of Pilates.  This class focuses on improving breathing technique, creating core muscle awareness and developing proper posture and alignment. Core Concepts is recommended for all students who are looking to create a solid foundation of Pilates technique such as the novice client, individuals with back pain, post natal clients, athletes, dancers or intermediate and advanced students looking to gain a stronger knowledge of core biomechanics. Classes are 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Tower Class

This equipment class is based on work on the Trapeze Table and uses spring tension.  The variable spring settings allow for stretching / flexibility as well as core work.  The nature of the springs in this class provide that participants learn to create stability through movements. Classes may also incorporate some mat class fundamentals. This class is appropriate for all levels.

Intro to Reformer

Just as you would not compete in a race the first time you ride a horse, you should also not participate in a reformer class your first time out of the gate. Ideal for the beginning client, this class will teach you the fundamentals of Pilates and the intricacies of the equipment and allow you to get the most out of your reformer class. This class is limited to those with little to no experience with Pilates and equipment. Classes are 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Reformer Class

The equipment work was originally designed to enhance clients’ experience with the mat work. Reformer work utilizes Pilates equipment based on springs. The spring tension acts as resistance that can be varied to make an exercise either more or less difficult and intense. As with all Pilates classes, you will achieve a complete body workout with emphasis placed on strengthening the core. This class is designed for those with prior experience on Pilates equipment.  For your safety it is recommended that participants take either 2 private lessons or 3 intro reformer classes prior to joining class.

Mat Class

Mat work is the foundation for all Pilates equipment work. This class is structured as a series of exercises performed on a mat wherein gravity and your body weight are used as resistance.  The focus here is on fluidity and form.  Achieve flexibility, strength, alignment, and core conditioning in this low impact, yet challenging class. This workout is appropriate for the novice through experienced practitioner.

Private and Semi-Private Sessions

These sessions are designed to address the specific needs of the participant and provide individualized attention during the lesson. Private sessions are one on one with an instructor and semi-privates may include up to 3 people with one instructor. You may bring a partner to do semi-private lessons or we can try to match you up with someone. Private and semi-private lessons are the optimal way to experience Pilates and the GYROTONIC® Method for the first time.
